Short Description

The device consists of a measurement coupler with current and voltage converters and a digital controller- and display-unit.
The coupler and the controller/display unit can be in separate housings (type KWZ-PM1) or both can be united in one housing (type KWZ-PM2). A second coupler can be connected which is activated via the menue.

The KWZ-PM excells itself by:

The measurement error is 3% maximum of the indicated value.
The measured data are displayed on a graphic LCD in digital and analog format. The LCD is mounted behind an anti-glare acrylic glas front panel. The display is illuminated when the device is run with +12Vdc.
The measured values are displayed as three-digit numbers in Watt and dBm. Additonally a bar-graph can be switched on. This analog display is dB-linear.

The KWZ-PM offers the following function modes:

  1. display of the average powers Pfwd and Prefl and the SWR,

  2. display of the peak values of the powers Pfwd and Prefl with adjustable hold time and the SWR,

  3. display of the delivered power Pd = Pfwd - Prefl as peak values with hold time and the SWR. This power is radiated by the antenna.

  4. Display of the Pfwd as peak value and average value simultaneously and the difference delta in dB. In this mode the compression grade of the modulation can be estimated.

Additional functions:

  1. ALO = automatic lockout: when a chosen SWR-value is exceeded the final amplifier can switched off or an alarm can be triggered. The switching circuit is potential free using an opto-coupler.

  2. RS-232-Interface: all measured values can be displayed and stored in a PC. The KWZ-PM can be controlled by the PC. A Windows-program is comprised.

  3. Control of the battery voltage with low voltage alarm, automatic charging of an accumulator (if used) from the +12 V-supply.


For the control of all functions and switching on and off only two keys are necessary, which are mounted right besides the display on the frontpanel.
The current supply is done externally with +12 Vdc from a plug-voltage supply or any other 12 Vdc source. Additionally the device can be supplied by a built-in 9V-blockbattery (or accumulator) for a portable operation. The illumination of the display is switched off. During operation with +12 Vdc no current is drawn from the battery. Is the +12 Vdc switched off the device will continue working without any interruption with the internal 9 V-supply, battery or accumulator.
